What got you interested in rugby and why did you join the Crusaders?

My interest in rugby started when I was in college. A couple of buddies played for our collegiate club and whenever there was a home game, I would go watch them play. It was such a fun sport to watch even though I had no idea what was happening. A few years later later, I found a few members of the Crusaders and they convinced me to just jump in a practice one day. It was one of the best spontaneous decisions ever.

What position(s) do you play?

I'm the tight-head prop.

How long have you played rugby?

It'll be 1 1/2 years this month.

What do you do for a living?

I'm part of the Editorial team for LockerDome, a startup tech company that currently focuses on native advertising. I also provide PR/publicity services for local and indie musicians throughout the country under my company, Dominant Seventh.

What's a fun fact about you?

I was adopted from Guatemala when I was five months old.

What's your favorite thing about rugby?

I'd have to say that my favorite thing is the camaraderie. I never got the chance to play any sports during high school but I always wanted to. The feeling of being on a team and knowing your teammates have your back on and off the pitch is something that you'll never forget.

If you're going to Bingham, what are you most excited about?

I have to pick one thing? This is my first time attending so honestly I'm excited for the entire thing the most. The ability to meet players from around the world is amazing and the chance to learn from them on how they play couldn't be more helpful to us. I guess if I had to choose though it would be the opportunity for the team to show the world just how badass a newbie team from St. Louis, MO can be.

Overall, how has rugby affected your life?

When I moved back from Los Angeles in 2013, I had vastly changed from the person I was when I left St. Louis. The Crusaders, and rugby in general, allowed me to continue my growth by giving me a close group of LGBT friends. It may sound weird but I had never had that until then.
